"I want to believe in God, but I just need something with skin on," says one young woman (raising the faith issue as eloquently and pointedly as many a philosopher before her) in this MTV-influenced inspirational video made by twentysomethings for twentysomethings. Producer Charity Hamilton (age 24) and director Hans Olsen (age 23) went looking for unsaved wretches redeemed by religious conversion and found some sad but ultimately uplifting stories in places ranging from homeless shelters to college campuses. Interviews, poems, devotions, and songs are interwoven throughout, and while a couple of music videos are pretentious (especially a shopworn metaphor sequence with a young girl wandering lost in a forest), the production is generally professional, sincere, and honest in its search for stories of spiritual triumph over personal misery.
