From camera connoisseur Russ Heinl's A Landmark Aerial Adventure series, Victoria & Vancouver Island, which focuses on northwestern Canada, couples historical narration with splendid visuals, as viewers fly over craggy mountains, snow-capped peaks, sapphire-blue waters, and industrious cities and towns. Interspersed with lovely old photos, and backed by a pulsating soundtrack, this PBS-aired program offers a nice balance of enchantment and information for viewers looking for potential vacation spots, recreational outlets, or simply wanting to check out the pleasant scenery. Minor quibbles include an excessive attention to shipwrecks, some helicopter racket on the soundtrack, occasionally illegible graphics, and rather pointless references to latitude and longitude to signify certain areas. Still, in choosing both popular and lesser-known locations, including Nanaimo, Butchart Gardens, Tofino and Triangle Island, Victoria & Vancouver Island ultimately provides viewers with a nice, wide-ranging perspective on the British Columbia region. The other identically priced titles in the series are: Alaska & The Inside Passage, Vancouver to Whistler, Queen Charlotte Islands and Canada's Edens. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams)
