John Foppe was born without arms. Overcoming the physical disability was a piece of cake compared with his struggle to build high self-esteem. He speaks eloquently about self-esteem being a daily choice. We watch him attend high school classes where he paints with his feet. We see him driving his date to the prom with his feet while he talks about the challenges of dating. We rejoice with him as he receives his high school diploma under his chin. The video follows him through college and into real life as he chooses to make a difference by sharing his life through inspirational speaking. He so impressed Zig Ziglar (Mr. Motivational Author) that the latter hired John to come to work in Texas, 700 miles away from his family. Throughout, Foppe speaks honestly about his pains and fears. In one poignant scene he describes the heartbreaking time that he couldn't hug and hold a child who was too young to understand that he didn't have arms. While there is a brief commercial at the end for John Foppe's bookings, his story is a testament to the choice of high self-esteem. Highly recommended for high school media centers, larger public and academic libraries. The teacher's guide includes a tipsheet listing ten ways to increase self esteem. Aud: H, C, P. (C.
