Winner of several awards, including a prestigious Gold Plaque award at the Chicago International Film Festival, this moving documentary focuses on the romantic relationships of couples who have severe physical disabilities. Barbara and Lanny, both wheelchair-bound, contemplate a marriage that would be fraught with difficulties yet hopefully bound by love. Another couple, Stuart and Diane, whose conversation is subtitled so that it may be understood, freely admit that each would not have been the other's first choice, but that they are able to find happiness with what they have. And Hugh, a single poet, wonders why "reality's opposed to dreams", as he searches for love. Filmmaker Dirk Eitzen has captured these "special feelings" which, though filtered through the prism of disabling handicaps, are recognizable because they're universal to us all: the need for love, for acceptance, for happiness, for justice in an unjust, or merely indifferent world. Highly recommended. (See AROUND ROUND BARNS for availability).
