In the September, 1991 issue, we reviewed Talking With David Frost: The President and Mrs. Bush, and it's a little scary that this interview with comedian and actor Robin Williams is not only much more interesting, but also a lot more human, than the interview with our nation's figurehead. Williams (star of Mork and Mindy, Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poet's Society, Awakenings, and most recently The Fisher King), talks about his Midwest upbringing and his relationship with his businesslike father and impish mother. After first studying acting at Julliard University, Williams turned to comedy and became a big hit at Los Angeles's "The Comedy Store." Landing a major television role as Mork in Mork and Mindy, he went on to become one of the most sought after actors working in Hollywood today. In addition to talking about his approach to comedy, Williams candidly discusses kicking his cocaine problem, and the newfound joy he has found with his second wife, Marsha. Queried about want he wants for his immediate future, he responds: "time home." Sure to be a popular addition, the Williams interview is often hilarious, occasionally insightful, and always interesting. Highly recommended.
