Paul Jones, formerly of the Manfred Mann Band, is the host for this religious investigation of the authenticity of the Bible. Divided into three sections, the opening segment inquires: "Are the Bible accounts we have today anything like the originals?" and then proceeds to make a case for an affirmative answer. Section two asks: "Were the Bible writers telling the truth?" and then cross-references other texts which contain mentions or passages devoted to early Christian history. The final segment poses the question: "Why were the Bible books written the way they were?" and compares both the style and substance of the four Gospels--how they are similar and how they differ. Although much of the cover art refers to the Bible as a whole, the emphasis--especially in the last two-thirds of the program is on the New Testament, and even more specifically the Gospels. And while the name of the producer (the Christian History Institute) suggests that this may not be the most disinterested of inquiries, The Incomparable Book does go beyond simple inspiration to at least pose some of the serious questions involved in determining the Bible's authenticity (and, at the same time, provides a good argument from the Christian point of view). The video and audio qualities are excellent, and the production looks very professional. Recommended.
