In this visually rich sampling of the arts and artifacts housed in the New York City Jewish Museum, viewers are given as much of an encyclopedic tour as eighteen minutes can provide. Spanning some 4,000 years, Jewish culture embraces a number of the arts, and viewers are given an historic overview through paintings, sculpture, pottery, etc. representative of the Jewish peasant life, religious life, and the horrors of the Holocaust. While lending a richness and swift pace to the program, the onslaught of information may be difficult for some people to assimilate without repeated viewings. This observation aside, The Jewish Museum is an interesting sampling of what museum director Joan Rosenbaum calls "a touchstone of identity for Jewish people". Recommended. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
