The music which begins this film that cheesy brass 1960s documentary style-and the fact that the narrator refers to the "film" viewers are about to see, places this fossil somewhere in the latter half of the twentieth century (but we can't say exactly where with any certainty). Three separate films on sharpening specific types of ice skates have been compiled on this tape. In the first segment, Joseph Delio instructs viewers on how to mount and sharpen figure skates. As he moves over to his work bench, which contains a grindstone, a diamond stylus for setting the proper groove, and a jig for holding the skate, one quickly realizes that this is for professionals, not for the general public. Succeeding segments feature Pieter Koller sharpening hockey skates, and Joseph Cagnoni sharpening speed skates (the only type that are shown being sharpened by hand, using a carborundum stone). Professionals might glean some useful information from these programs, but there's nothing of value for general patrons. Not recommended. (See LET'S TALK ABOUT PLANTS AND ANIMALS for availability.)
