Though the title does not specify, this is actually a tape of natural childbirth techniques, emphasizing the benefits of support, comfort, relaxation, breathing, chanting, hydrotherapy, visualization, and massage during the three stages of labor. Intended primarily for use in birthing classes, the tape's topics (referred to as "chapters" on the back of the box) are listed numerically on-screen. Featuring true, active labors, the tape includes women who are being assisted by females as well those assisted by male partners, concluding with a final chapter in which three women enthusiastically look back on their experiences (however, we also learn that one woman actually had an epidural for pain relief, despite all the preaching about "natural" labor). Overall, given the short running time, the steep price, and the fact that public libraries are likely to already have half-a-dozen similar titles, this is a very optional purchase. Aud: P. (R. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
