Ohmigod! It's a creature with hundreds of poisonous, neon-colored, squishy arms, any one of which could paralyze you, so the thing can drag you into its gaping mouth! Sound like a character out of a comic book or science-fiction tale? Yes it does, but this "thing" could just as easily be found in a marine biology field guide, as young viewers will learn in this wacky factoid-filled video that proves truth can indeed be stranger than fiction. Mike, a zany goofball swimmer/diver, and his young friends explore the depths of the tropical ocean (this video's production is subsidized by the Grand Cayman Islands) in this projected 13-part series, in which each episode features three-to-six underwater creatures. In Strange Creatures, which sports excellent underwater photography, viewers will learn the common and scientific names, as well as relevant facts, for the yellowtail snapper, pufferfish, giant moray eel, and that squishy-armed monster--a sea anemone. Recommended. Other titles available include: Boy Meets Ocean, Exploring with Submarines and Symbiotic Relationships. Aud: E, I. (E. Gieschen)
