This abridged production of Hamlet by Britain's National Youth Theatre is a spirited rendering of the Bard's most famous play. Split into two parts, Part 1 is a one-hour version of the play itself, while Part II features Ron Daniels, an Associate Director with the Royal Shakespeare Company, working through key scenes (the opening, Hamlet meeting his father's ghost, Hamlet's famous soliloquy, etc/) with the company. While the play is unquestionably the thing, seeing the inner workings of creating good dramatic productions will benefit students of Shakespeare, and anyone else seeking a better understanding of literature's most famous fence-straddler. Recommended. (See GREEK CIVILIZATION for availability.)
