If these people keep making such beautiful travel videos on Washington state, I'm afraid there's going to be an influx of immigrants into my backyard. Be that as it may, the latest production from Hatzoff is a moving picture postcard view of the lush Olympic Peninsula. Beginning with a ferry ride from Seattle, the viewer docks at Winslow on Bainbridge Island, and takes the highway down to the Nordic village of Poulsbo (Hi mom!), and then heads across the Hood Canal Bridge to visit the historic homes of Port Gamble and Port Townsend. Along the way, viewers are shown logging towns, great sports fishing spots, Native American villages, and game farms, before arriving at Olympic National Park-the centerpiece of the video. To get an idea of the amount of concentrated rain in the Olympic rainforest, one need only reflect on the fact that neighboring Sequim (30 miles away) averages 17" of rainfall per year, compared to the rainforest's 200". The park encompasses some 600 miles, containing three rainforests, fifty miles of coastline, and some one hundred offshore islands. From the beautiful beaches on the Pacific Coast, the tour swings inland to complete the circle, stopping at a castle in Hoquiam; and watching the busy loggers at Shelton, which provides some two million Christmas trees each year to Americans. A winner, this gorgeous video is highly recommended. (Available from: Hatzoff Productions, Sixth & Battery Bldg., 2326 Sixth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121.)
