The number one cancer in men, prostate cancer kills nearly as many men as breast cancer kills women, yet because it often strikes much later in life and many men avoid doctors until major symptoms appear, it often goes undetected. Combining interviews with doctors and patients, What Every Man Should Know About His Prostate, Including Cancer covers the symptoms, screening tests used in diagnosis, treatments available (including surgery, radiation, and hormonal therapy), and possible side effects associated with the various treatments. Even some of the less than optimum case scenarios aren't as bad as they sound: one elderly gentleman had his testicles surgically removed (a drastic method of stopping testosterone production in hormonal treatment), but he says he's now able to ride horses much more comfortably. More technical and less user-friendly than Good Morning America: The Healthy Male--Prostate Cancer (VL-9/94), this program is still a good overview of the treatment options available and is recommended for larger health collections. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
