A heartwarming profile with an endearing, "home-made" quality, What Matters pays tribute to inspirational teacher Bob Blue, who started out using music as an adjunct to classroom instruction but wound up employing music as a full-fledged teaching tool for grammar, math and building a sense of community. He went on to found Children's Music Network, an international organization for parents, teachers, librarians and performers interested in helping children express themselves and become self confident using music. Today, he is side-lined but not daunted by multiple sclerosis and has "adopted" a class of children whom he has followed through the grades on a volunteer basis. His accomplishments are recorded here, along with commentary by former students, colleagues and parents. Although his compositions may never win a Grammy, his students award him platinum status. A strong optional purchase. Aud: C, P. (J. Reed)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
