According to recent surveys, a full third of high school seniors use marijuana on a regular basis. Celebrities tout the wonderful effects of pot. Petitions to legalize weed are common. After all, it's organic, safe, and enhances your creativity and happiness...right? Wrong. Through testimonies from teens and adults, present and past pot smokers, and health-care professionals, the impact of marijuana abuse is discussed in an honest, factual way, without resorting to "scare tactics." Self-esteem, peer pressure, feeling happy, curiosity--the reasons for getting high are numerous, but the results are the same: failure at accomplishing goals, and a physically destructive addiction. Because the use of marijuana is so glorified and mythologized in today's society, it is important for young people to know the facts, understand the risks, and make wise decisions regarding recreational drug use. This video and the accompanying written material does a good job of presenting the case against marijuana. Recommended. Note: What's Wrong With Marijuana? is also available as part of a 10-tape substance abuse series called "Curriculum in a Box," available for $850. Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)
