They're cute, they're cuddly, and a few of them could probably take your leg off up to the neck: they're the wild baby animals of Yellowstone National Park. Exceptional--and I mean break out the "oohs" and "aaahs"--cinematography highlights this charming day-in-the-life overview of baby mountain lions and wolves and bears (oh my!). As a voice-over narrator introduces the young inhabitants of "Yellowstone Day School" (where Moms don't car-pool their young, they "carry-pool" them; don't look at me, that joke is directly from the video), viewers see baby critters playing with mom, wrestling with siblings, and being just plain curious. While watching the antics, young audiences learn about feeding, sleeping, play habits, and cultural info-nuggets (coyote, for instance, is a popular figure in Native American stories). The only real drawback is the price, which is steep for a general nature video so clearly aimed at youngsters. Compare the National Geographic nature titles for kids at $14.95! Still, for those blessed with large budgets (or good negotiation skills), this is highly recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
