An underwater wedding, frogs listening to motivational tapes, and a battery-powered spaghetti fork are just a few of the weird and wonderful sights on this collection of oddball film clips, TV bits, and home video footage culled from a century's worth of available material. Unfortunately, these bright spots are often drowned out by long segments about presidents, comedians, and just plain folks falling down...repeatedly. I'm not averse to physical slapstick (Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd made good careers from it, and they still make me laugh), but am I the only one who finds one pratfall after another to be a) not funny, b) a little mean-spirited, and c) rather boring? This is like one of those dollar carnival grab bags: there's a few goodies in here that are truly worthwhile, but the rest is mediocre, and some of the stuff is downright junky. The narrator claims that these are the funniest moments committed to film in the past 100 years; I don't think they looked all that hard. An optional purchase. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
