You want a rousing, swashbuckling adventure? Then pick up The Crimson Pirate, Captain Blood or even The Princess Bride. Director Renny Harlin should be made to walk the plank for this overblown, over-budgeted vanity production starring his real-life companion Geena Davis, although there are some camp kicks to be had watching her cross swords as Morgan Adams. Miscast Matthew Modine is a rogue compelled to help her locate the missing fortune coveted by her evil uncle (Frank Langella). Any sense of fun is blunted by Harlin's emphasis on the explosive pyrotechnics and the bloody scalp (yuck!) that holds the missing clue to the treasure. Not recommended. (D. Liebenson)
