With this positively mainstream romantic comedy, writer/director/star Eric Schaeffer tries to be offbeat and hip, but his predictable plot and contrived characters ruin a potentially interesting premise. His story follows therapist Lucy (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her painter roommate Joe (Schaeffer), who make a pact to commit suicide if they don't find true love by age 30. So Lucy tries a love connection with a wild artist (Ben Stiller), while Joe goes for the babe next door (Elle MacPherson). The only thing new or different about this romantic comedy is that Schaeffer fills in the formula blanks with touches of ‘90s pop culture. Not recommended. (L. Russo)
