Originally shown on PBS's Great Performances series, this lively one-woman show is an exuberant overview of the singing career of the multi-talented British stage and screen star Julie Andrews. Mixing personal anecdotes with classic songs, Andrews works the audience well, as she describes her childhood signing career, her parents' vaudeville background, her first experience of New York, and more. The songs include: "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?," "Show Me," and "I've Grown Accustomed to His Face" from My Fair Lady; "How to Handle a Woman " and "Camelot" from Camelot; screen hits such as "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" (Mary Poppins), "Thoroughly Modern Millie, "and "Le Jazz Hot" (VictorlVictoria); and some of her personal favorites: "Where There's Music," "On a Clear Day," and "Come Rain or Shine." Andrews closes the program with her signature hit "The Sound of Music. "A fine concert, sure to be greatly appreciated by Andrews' fans. Highly recommended.
