A sequel to the Cine Gold Eagle award winner Kevin's Story, this anti-drug program brings Kevin Tunell back to the high school which he spoke at following his experiences with drinking. At 18, Tunell was convicted of manslaughter when a drunk driving accident resulted in the death of an 18-year-old girl. Rather than jailing him, the judge ordered Kevin to take his story to other teens. Ergo, Kevin's Story. Unfortunately, causing the death of another human being was not a strong enough incentive to keep Kevin off alcohol and drugs, ergo Kevin's Story II. Kevin and two friends discuss basic problems of peer pressure with a group of high school teenagers who seem not only quite intelligent, but also carry the discussion into more thorny moral problems than Kevin and his friends are equipped to deal with. The interest, therefore, is in what the kids are saying, rather than the standard anti-drug message that Kevin and company have come to impart. A more energetic and galvanized speaker would have made more of an impression. Cynical observation or not, one hopes that there won't be a Kevin's Story III, or at least that no one will bother to film it. This is suitable as a discussion starter, though not nearly as good as similar "reformed drug addict" tapes, for junior high and high school libraries; public libraries need not consider.
