Just when you'd completely given up hope of ever seeing a serious portrait of a female necrophiliac, along comes this Canadian indie featuring Molly Parker as an adventurous young gal with an amorous taste for flesh gone somewhat south. Working in a mortuary (you didn't think McDonald's did you?), our Sandra hooks up with a college lad (alive) and they have the following conversation--He: "Why would you want to be an embalmer?" She: "Because of the bodies." He: "What do you mean?" She: "I make love to them." You'd think the guy would suddenly remember a pressing engagement at the laundrymat at this point, but no, he invites her to his apartment. Believe it or not, the pair strike up a romantic relationship, although Sandra continues to take advantage of new stiffs on the side, a sticking point which eventually causes a bit of a flare-up between the two lovebirds. Kissed apparently wants to be Ms. Edge City when it comes to young love films, but--except for a few unintentional laughs--the story is essentially as lifeless as Sandra's dead boy toys. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)[DVD Review—Sept. 20, 2005—MGM, 79 min., R, $14.95—Making its first appearance on DVD, 1996's Kissed sports a nice transfer with Dolby Digital surround sound, but no DVD extras beyond trailers. Bottom line: a disappointing extras package for a dull film.]
