If you think your boss is a monster, consider poor Mary Reilly. She is a maid in the home of the brooding and mysterious Dr. Henry Jekyll. She considers him a kind man and feels secure in his house, until she meets his new "assistant," Edward Hyde. Based on the book by Valerie Martin, this brooding and atmospheric gothic love story is a dramatic departure for Julia Roberts, but not for John Malkovich, who attacks his double role with relish. Glenn Close is a hoot as the ill-fated brothel owner, Mrs. Faraday. Recommended. (K. Lee Benson)
