Like her playwright father, Ellen Simon has used the stuff of autobiography to come to terms with a devastating loss, the death of her husband who was hit by a car while jogging. Elizabeth Perkins stars as her screen alter-ego. Whoopi Goldberg, Kathleen Turner and Gwyneth Paltrow are the friends and family who rally around to help her cope. Not to appear unsympathetic, but this is buddy-bonding at its most cloying. The film's theatrical roots are glaringly apparent in the stagey dialogue. Not a necessary purchase. (D. Liebenson)[Blu-ray/DVD Review—Feb. 23, 2016—Olive, 105 min., R, DVD: $24.95, Blu-ray: $29.95—Making its latest appearance on DVD and debut on Blu-ray, 1995's Moonlight and Valentino sports a solid transfer but no extras. Bottom line: better looking on Blu, but still stage-bound—although it features a great cast.]
