More Tales of the City

Welcome to 28 Barbary Lane, San Francisco--home to the quirky characters in More Tales of the City, a three-volume drama based on the works of Armistead Maupin's bestseller. Somewhat like a 1970's-kind of Melrose Place soap opera, this delightfully entertaining, addictive and suspenseful series weaves together the complex lives of the Barbary Lane inhabitants. For instance, there's Mona, a young woman troubled by her childhood, who runs away to Reno, and ends up working as a receptionist for a whorehouse. Or there's Mary Ann and her gay male friend Mouse, who both seek romance on a get-away Carnivale cruise. More Tales of the City features a well-known cast of names including Olympia Dukakis, Parker Posey and Swoosie Kurtz. The only catch: just like potato chips, you can't consume just one; you'll want to watch all three videos. Highly recommended. (M. K. Lau)
