Bleak chic that seems destined for cult status, Nadja was produced by David Lynch (Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks) and marks the return to the screen of Peter Fonda as a modern-day vampire hunter in New York. His target: brooding vampire Elina Lowensohn. Martin Donovan, another Hal Hartley regular, stars as a reasonably concerned husband, whose wife has been once bitten. Filmed in lush black and white, with dreamlike Pixelvision sequences. The Village Voice liked it (which should be warning enough for some). (D. Liebenson)
