A serious problem facing American workers today is given the romantic comedy treatment in director John Jeffcoat's pleasant but undistinguished indie Outsourced, in which 32-year-old Todd Anderson (Josh Hamilton) not only loses his order-filling job to outsourcing, but is also persuaded to travel to India to train his replacement. Making his way by crowded train to the village of Gharapuri, he's met by Purohit N. Virajnarianan (Asif Basra), who hopes to parlay the job he's taking from Todd into realizing his long-delayed dream of marriage. Todd connects with Purohit's fellow employee Asha (Ayesha Dharker) and learns to embrace change, both in his altered life and new surroundings. Outsourced relies heavily on the story's exotic location, extracting laughs from fish-out-of-water situations while developing the romantic relationship between Todd and Asha. New York stage actor Hamilton does well with his stranger-in-a-strange-land character, while the lovely Dharker sparkles as the capable yet passionate Asha. A strong optional purchase. (E. Hulse)
