Poltergeist Report

Unless a band of Japanese superheroes take the nefarious bull by the special-effects laden horn right now, the denizens of the Netherworld are going to overpower the benevolent beings in the Spiritworld and...well...hand the Humanworld its proverbial butt on a plate. Although purists will no doubt opt for the subtitled version, I was rather impressed with the dubbing here, with the girls sounding cute (in a Billy-Jack-take-this-foot-and-kick-you-upside-the-head kind of way) and the guys delivering the two most frequent lines of male dialogue--"huh?" and "damn"--with real nuance. The battle scenes--i.e., the whole point of the video--are enjoyably over the top. For avid collectors of Japanese anime this is a good choice, with mid-level violence and no nudity or sex. Aud: P.
