Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's classic romantic comedy of manners, this lush remake features Jennifer Ehle as the feisty Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth as the prideful Darcy. ‘Tis the Jane Austen season: 4 of her 6 novels have been turned into movies/mini-series this year: this one, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, and Emma (remade as the aptly titled Clueless). Lovely cinematography, excellent acting, and an abundant amount of Austen's original wit (made possible by the extra time allowed by the mini-series format) make this version of Pride and Prejudice one of the best. Highly recommended. (R.
