Trying to disguise the fact that this is really just a paint-by-numbers, boys-will-be-boys college comedy, first-time director Dewey Nicks slathers Slackers in Tom Green-style bad taste outrageousness as its misogynistic cool jerk hero (Devon Sawa) lies his way into the bed of the generically gorgeous sweetheart (pretty James King from Pearl Harbor). While the plot concerns a comedic, creepy stalker (Jason Schwartzman, Rushmore) blackmailing Sawa into helping him score with the girl, said storyline takes a back seat to such gag-inducing jokes as Sawa being orally serviced by the girl's horny middle-aged mom. A few audacious comedic gems--Schwartzman's fearlessly repellent performance is as bizarrely funny as it is disturbing--are ultimately lost in the movie's bottom-feeder humor. Not recommended. (R.
