Lovely cinematography can't quite compensate for the muddled message in this quasi-science-fiction-environmental-religious hodgepodge. An unseen alien from a dying planet voice-over narrates as we see the Earth through his eyes traveling from the pristine beauty of unspoiled forest to the crime and pollution of the big city. With a couple of references to a Supreme Being, and comments like "in the end, filth, pollution, promiscuity, disease, and vice will do away with the planet," it's clear that this program has more than simply environmental concerns on its plate. But it's all Apocalypse, with no light at the end of the doomsday tunnel, which is a bit harsh for basic Christian recruitment. Perhaps the most ironic shot in this virulently anti-modern, anti-technology diatribe is one of an EMS unit trying to revive a man, while the narrator intones that society is struggling to survive but doomed to fail. Maybe so, but if I was that guy on the stretcher, I'd want them to continue CPR nevertheless. An optional purchase, with admittedly beautiful cinematography, for those who want to spend $150 for a conversation piece. [Note: as is often the case on Chip Taylor Communications videos, the credits were chopped off just prior to the copyright date; telltale scratches during the opening make it unlikely that this is a 1995 production as the video jacket claims.] (R.
