This twisty psychological film from Belgian director Dominique Deruddere stars Antoine Kamerling as Chris, a Kurt Cobain look-alike blond hustler who falls under the crippled and decidedly perverse wing of Glover (Pete Postlethwaite). Confined to a wheelchair, the wealthy Glover has access to anything and everything…except healthy sex. Enlisting Chris as his surrogate lover, Glover brings a bevy of hookers to his luxurious suite 16, but neither male is ultimately satisfied by the arrangement. When a young woman (who is not a prostitute) is brought into the game, the delicate psychological balance is decidedly upset with results worthy of Jacobean theatre. Not a great film by any stretch, it’s still much better than the salacious box art suggests. A strong optional purchase, especially given the low price. (R. Pitman)
