Flashtap. What a heeling. No doubt about it, Tap Dogs kicks wood. Six Australian blue collar (and often barechested) guys, including choreographer/dancer Dein Perry, tap up a storm on a minimalist (but very effective) stage at London's Lyric Theatre. Although not a wide-range variety show like its Irish sibling Riverdance, Perry's Tap Dogs, which snarfed an impressive 11 international awards (including an Obie), is oftentimes more creative. There's something weirdly exhilarating (to me, anyway) about watching a guy dance an intricate path through a shower of sparks as his fellow dancers literally take metal grinders to the beams of the set. Jennifer Beals, eat your heart out. Recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
