Although the best thing about the original Mission Impossible series is still, in my book, the funky Lalo Schiffrin score, the series pilot I watched definitely rang bells as the Impossible Mission Forces (IMF) under the direction of Steven Hill (the first Jim Phelps) rescued a pair of nuclear birds from a wacko Latin American dictator. Six double-episodes are being offered by Paramount, but libraries will have to decide whether they want to purchase EP/SLP recorded videos--which are a little hardier than the tape which self-destructs at the beginning of Mission Impossible episodes, but still substandard. An optional purchase. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
