Virtually…um…a skull, or, more precisely, five skulls altogether. Totally comprised of one eight minute loop which is repeated for approximately one hour, this novelty video features five cheesily made-up faces licking chops and looking evil (supposedly), while a skull is intermittently superimposed over their mugs. The guy who gets so into the act that he actually drools real saliva is, by far, the most frightening (not to mention the grossest), but that’s no reason to pick up this lazy person’s substitute for a pumpkin. The idea here, I think, is to put your TV in your window on Halloween and scare trick or treaters (The Virtual Pumpkin and The Virtual Devil are also available), thereby foregoing the time-honored tradition of carving out a real organic pumpkin. Which is fine, if you’re really trying to make my world-class gort list. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
