After starting up a relationship with a womanizing health-club manager (Michael Vartan), fitness instructor/actress Bridgitte (Amanda Peet) learns not only that her old boyfriend is dying of AIDS but that she is HIV-positive. So begins this ingratiatingly earnest but utterly banal romance-cum-drama that could easily qualify as a “disease of the week” TV-movie, except for a little extra dose of sex and profanity. Nary a plot development transpires that isn't predictable, including the ignorant and heartless reaction of the stricken woman's female roommate (Kari Wuhrer). In a gratuitous bit of casting, real-life HIV-positive former Olympic diver Greg Louganis plays a caring healthcare worker--but not convincingly, even in a small cameo. Not recommended. (T. Rich)
