How to Juggle & Other Cheap Tricks, featuring juggler and comedian Marty Pollio, is just plain fun—thanks to the fact that Pollio is not only an excellent juggler, but also a very good teacher with a goofy sense of humor that will appeal to kids and adults alike. After a quick overview of juggling equipment (including a demo on how to make low-cost beanbags), Pollio begins with the basic cascade pattern (first with one ball, then two, and finally three), followed by more elaborate patterns, including the fountain, columns, bouncing balls off an arm or leg, fancy throws, and finally the show-stopping reverse-cascade, which offers an illusion of juggling action similar to Michael Jackson's moonwalk. Between lessons, Pollio also teaches viewers some “cheap tricks”—simple illusions to perform before friends—that include vanishing tricks, willing a straw to roll across a table, “inhaling” a rubber band up your nose (and who wouldn't want to be able to do that?), and more. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (C. Block)
