Instructor Ira Israel, a psychotherapist with an easygoing manner and a casual delivery, here helps novices ease into a meditation practice that will quickly deliver benefits (the subtitle is “10 Days to Change Your Life Forever”). Starting with a five-minute exercise, each day's routine grows a minute longer than the previous one, and each features a quick introduction outlining a different element: using a mantra or a body scan, for example, or breathing in love or acceptance and breathing out resentment and resistance. Viewers who keep their eyes open throughout the video will be treated to images of Israel meditating in the traditional lotus position in a variety of settings ranging from natural backdrops such as forest, surf, sunset, garden, or lakeside, to famous sites including the Louvre and the Chicago “Bean” sculpture. The underlying message is that meditation is very beneficial and that there is no “best” method: the important thing is to show up and do it. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (F. Gardner)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
