Statues and building facades with the accompanying names and places are trotted out with bone-crushingly dull regularity in this S.O.S. (same old sights) tour of London--Piccadilly Square, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and so on. Besides playing like a dramatized grocery list, the production was shot-on-video using less than state of the art equipment, and some of the footage has the appetizing look of boiled cabbage. Better choices here would be Travels in Europe: London, Paris & Amsterdam (VL-7/91) or Touring London, Paris, Rome (VL-3/93). Uninspired and outrageously priced (travel videos for under $30 are a dime a dozen) A Video Guide to London is not recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
