"I direct." Question: is this the a epitaph on Alfred Hitchcock's grave, b a new direct collect calling promotion tag line, or c Maine's state motto? If you answered "a" or "b" you're wrong (I hope...because I sure didn't bother to look it up). For the wedge, "c" is the correct answer. From the makers of Flags of the Nation (VL-11/93), this new program covers all of the state flags, and provides information about each state's capital, bird, tree, motto, date of admittance, and major industries (through stock footage). Some of the background tidbits are pretty interesting: Alaska's flag, for instance, was designed in 1927 by a 13-year-old boy. A handy locator time-coded index card makes it easy for browsers to zip straight to the state that interests them, and a quiz at the end of the video tests one's mental acumen. A good choice for video reference collections. Recommended. (R. Pitman)
