Ars Antiqua brings the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to life before a school audience. The performers, dressed in period costume and playing ancient instruments, educate as they entertain, taking their audience back in time to the court of Henry VIII where the kids learn about and hear music made with recorders, krummhorns, viols, gemshornes, and cornettini. We watched the opening volume, where the musical selections ranged from the 1310 "Sumer is Icumen In" to Monteverdi's "O Rosetta" to the traditional " Scarborough Faire" which is presented as a 300-year-old hit. This video is clearly aimed at classroom use and is an appropriate choice for school media centers. Recommended. Aud: E, I ,J, H. (C. Dratch-Kovler)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
