This tape serves as an introduction to glass beadmaking. Glass artist Michael Max demonstrates the four basic bead shapes and the fundamentals of embellishment. The hypnotic and "meditative" aspects of the art are conveyed through the good use of close-ups. Although a beginner cannot run out and try the techniques after viewing the video (for one thing, the cost of the equipment and supplies is prohibitive), the tape does serve as a good overview which might inspire people to take a beadmaking class or workshop. Recommended. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
