Frustrated musicians eager to engage in an entertaining exercise program will want to try out this rhythmic routine that turns viewers into human beat boxes as they slap body parts and stamp their feet to the syncopated stylings of “percussionist/rhythm dancer” Keith Terry. With a little bit of "This Old Man" or "The Hokey Pokey" and a lot of earnest concentration, the musical quotient of this program will probably be most attractive to fans of the Capitol Steps or Manhattan Transfer, but the routines are engaging enough to appeal to all but the most rhythmically challenged. Terry takes viewers through the basic moves--clapping, slapping, stomping--gradually building the routine's complexity until a jaunty piece of music results, later followed by a stirring sampling of group performances. Terry's work encompasses music, dance, theater, and performance art, and --as the video jacket points out--offers the added benefit of an aerobic workout (hey, if Tae-Bo and Tensegrity can become popular exercise programs, so can this). As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
