If you thought those home videos taken in the delivery room were rough to watch, get ready for a real challenge. While infants cry in frustration, you'll see doctors demonstrate the three most popular procedures for circumcising baby boys: Plastibell, Mogen, and Gomco. The camera zooms in on the long needles full of anesthesia being inserted, the surgical tools (some with awful names like dorsal penal crush, clamp with guillotine, and dissecting probe), the scalpel and scissors cutting, and the blood flowing. Parents considering circumcision for their newborns will want to know exactly what to expect, and this tape pulls no punches. Yet, while the intent here seems to be to help mom and dad decide if they want this for baby, no pros and cons of circumcision in general or each procedure specifically is discussed or opinions offered. All we are left with are the graphic images, which will probably unnerve parents more than aid them. Still, until another one is available, this does fill a gap in the parenting collection and is therefore a strong, optional purchase. Aud: P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
