Based on the premise that job seekers should focus more on what they can do for the company rather than what the company can give them, this program features career consultant Andrea Kay, who explores four aspects of the interview: anticipating what interviewers are looking for; preparing for the interview; focusing on objectives; and communication. Dramatizations, reinforced by voice-over instruction, show the right and wrong ways to handle the interview. However, while there are some excellent questions and suggestions in this program, it offers little coverage on the subjects of listening, gathering corporate information, or determining one's personal strengths and weaknesses or the kinds of jobs for which you might be suited. Two programs: Interview Power: Selling Yourself Face to Face (VL-11/95 ) for adults and Cambridge Educational's own Extraordinary Answers to Common Interview Questions (VL-9/95 ) for high school students are recommended over this title because they provide more specific information and examples. Still, this program would be a good first choice as it provides students with a broad overview of the interview preparation. Recommended for high school library and career collections. (J. Scholtz)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
