Christi Hogue is the onscreen hostess for this jam-packed introduction to interior decoration. Beginning with a list of the few simple tools one needs (tape measure, graph paper, pencil, etc.), Ms. Hogue goes on to discuss furniture selection and arrangement, fabrics and window treatments, paint and wall coverings, accessories, and planning a color scheme with an easy-to-make swatch folder. Throughout, a distinction is made between traditional and modern decorating. While there is an exceptional amount of usable information delivered here, the tape has a few flaws: 1) the still pictures used as examples look old and faded--it's difficult to relate what Ms. Hogue is saying to these rather dull photographs, 2) the former Miss Alabama speaks in a non-varying monotone, and 3) the producers have chosen to add weird synthesizer runs as background music--a wholly incongruous choice for the subject matter at hand. Libraries without similar titles may want to purchase this inexpensive program--as it will definitely reward the determined viewer. Otherwise, this is not a necessary purchase. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
