While breastfeeding is nature's way of bringing nourishment to the infant child, the path is often blocked by raw nipples and sore milk-engorged breasts. Dr. Jane Morton, a clinical professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, explains that many willing mothers give up because of the pain involved in breastfeeding, yet the problem is often easily correctable: the infant is simply not "latching-on" properly. Proper latch-on massages the breast to express milk, improper latch-on results in the child chomping on the nipple. Animated sequences and a live demonstration guided by Morton instruct viewers in correct breastfeeding technique, while the accompanying booklet addresses other concerns related to breastfeeding. An excellent program, brief but much more focused than general neo-natal guides. Highly recommended. (R. Pitman)
