Peggy McIntyre opens this friendly guide to making one's own window treatments with a discussion of how much money can be saved. Swags and jabots are formal-looking drapes that cover the top and sides of windows. The elegant look is actually fairly easy to create using any commercial pattern. The frugal McIntyre points out cost savings and helpful tips as she goes. Her sewing machine was bought second-hand at a garage sale, and she suggests that infrequent sewers do likewise. She displays several samples, all made with different, attractive fabrics. Leading the viewer through the process step-by-step, McIntyre's clear demonstrations ought to be enough to provide anyone with the encouragement to get sewing. Nice technical work, good presentation and a great price make this a must buy. Two other titles available in the series are: Valences and Shades. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)
