In an effort to stem the tide of an increasingly amoral society, many religions are encouraging families to spend time together to strengthen relationships and teach values. Family 15 is a multimedia product built around an eight-week series of interactive weekly devotionals focusing on families opening their hearts through prayer to God and discussion. Each of the eight 15-minute segments on the DVD includes scriptural devotions, "man-on-the-street" interviews, real-life stories, and scenarios for discussion. Accompanying materials include a CD-ROM specifically geared toward teens, an audio CD featuring program creator Chad Williams, a leader's guide with additional questions appropriate for all age groups, a prayer journal for individual family members to record their thoughts and goals, and follow-up reminder cards. While the DVD is engaging, thought-provoking, and well-produced--and would serve as a terrific model for families interested in setting up weekly religious meetings--the "kit" format is not altogether optimum for public library use. Still, the core materials are solid and should circulate well (and the incidentals--journal, cards--are not crucial). Recommended. Aud: P. (L. Stevens)
