Fat-thumbers and fumblers beware: this video is NOT going to improve your averages. Frank Lima directs his deadpan delivery at people who have at least a passing knowledge of what makes things run, and if you have trouble screwing in a lightbulb, look elsewhere for help. Saving money on simple household repairs is a popular subject with many homeowners, and in this first volume of a projected series of six, Lima tackles repairs to clothes dryers, lawnmowers, basic plumbing, and tire repair (the best segment of the four). His directions are given in a laconic, monotonous tone that caused me to yearn for a little Tool Time humor, but I guess when you're hunched over a clothes dryer you're not in the mood for levity. Unfortunately, there is nothing particularly special about this video to recommend it. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
